Box Score Distribution Based on Mean Projection
If I were looking to quickly come up with a distribution of what a player's box score stats (Pts, Reb, Ast, etc.) may be for a given night while only knowing their mean projected amount for each category (provided by NumberFire), would it be better to use a Poisson distribution or a Negative Binomial Distribution? If Negative Binomial, what would be the inputs for Successes, Failures, and Probability only knowing what the projected value is?
