Strategy for replacing Gronk
Without the large amount of points at TE, I was wondering if folks had a strategy for replacing that point loss. I am looking at Shiancoe to replace him, and maybe pick up 10-15 a week, but I am not hopeful and that still doesnt replace his production total. I am curious as to an approach on trying to keep pace until hes back.

This is the reason that we have a WR/TE flex position in my league in addition to a WR/RB flex. The TE position is just too quirky. If you don't get a Gronk, a Gonzales (now that he's a favorite target of Ryan), a Witten (when he was a #1 fantasy TE) or a Gates (when he was scoring out of this world), you've got a position where only a select few can hope to score significant points. I've slid Micheal Crabtree into that flex spot as I own Gronk. Good luck, but there's no suitable replacement for that many points.

I'm in the same boat. Theres no way to really replace Gronk except for Jimmy Graham. I'd say Brandon Myers is the best TE option if he's available. Dallas Clark, Dwayne Allen, and Mercedes Lewis are deeper league desperation moves

    Thoughts on Pitta?

I dont know...I'm a ravens fan and I don't trust their offense except rice. Pitta seems to be hit or miss

I traded Victor Cruz and Gronk (injured version) and Bears DST for Heath Miller & Packers DST & Danny Amendola. I already had a slew of good receivers and defenses (D.Thomas, P.Harvin, D.Alexander, A.Brown) but was only carrying one TE. You might be in a position where you can trade away a position where you're stacked and get a top-5 TE in return (J.Graham, Witten, O.Daniels, Hernandez, Heath Miller). If you can't get any of those guys I'd suggest looking at the free agents available.

DO NOT get Shiancoe to replace him. I can almost guarantee that is not your best option. There's likely some decent TEs that are free agents in your league, take a look at the "remaining" projections on this site & maybe grab the highest projected free agent.

sorry man but I think that trade is terrible ... if you think Cruz is not a top 5 WR... and Gronk won't be back for FF playoffs... then fine... but no way I make that trade... esp how bad PACK D is... and how risky Heath Miller will become with a crap QB behind him....

FYI, I know what I'm doing. I am point & wins leader in my league over the past 3 years, which is composed of people who are both sports nuts & mathematicians (i.e. actuaries). The trade worked pretty well for me. Gronk is out 4-6 weeks, which means the earliest he could possibly be back is in my last week of playoffs. I'd rather trade for someone that gives me a higher probability of the finals than bank on making the finals AND bank on the best-case scenario recovery time of Gronk. I like Victor Cruz, and he's probably top 10, but not ready to say he is top 5. I can start a max of 3 WRs/week, and for average FTPS/week according to my league's scoring system, I owned the 3rd, 6th, 8th, and 9th best WRs (CRUZ BEING THE 9th), and I traded for the 14th best (Amendola). There is only one decent waiver possibly for TE in my league - Greg Olsen. I plan to pick him up and play him until Big Ben returns, at which point I'm guessing H.Miller will outperform him. As far as the Pack D, I don't care - I owned the 49ers, Bears, and Broncos defense coming into this trade (remaining points projected ranks of #9, #2, and #1 according to Numberfie). I also took care to assure for each week remaining at least on of the Broncos or 49ers DST had an opponent with a crap offense. It is almost mathematically impossible for the guy I traded with to make the playoffs, so there was little to no risk in "creating a monster" I would have to defeat. Still think it's a crap trade? If so, go ahead, please voice your opinion as to what I should have done. Otherwise, I'd assume people who appropriately punctuate sentences are much more enlightened than you are.
