Gabriel Landeskog OUT

NHL suspends Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog for two games

Colorado Avalanche winger Gabriel Landeskog has been suspended for two games for checking Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand in the head.

What It Means:

Landeskog made the mistake of making Marchand's head the principal point of contact while also blindsiding Marchand. Marchand was not hurt on the play, but Landeskog has been fined for an illegal play before, so that's taken into account when deciding his punishment. He's eligible to return on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Landeskog has played in all 16 of the Avalanches' games this season, recording 12 points (five goals, seven assists), good for third-best on the team. We project him to score 19 goals and tally 29 assists over the remaining course of the season. The 60 projected total points for the season would beat his total of 59 from last season.
