Boston Bruins center Chris Kelly fractured his left femur on Tuesday night and will be out of action for at least six months.
In an innocent-looking moment by the Stars bench, Kelly tried to readjust to the puck, but his left leg bent awkwardly. Kelly's surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, and recovery will be six-to-eight months.
This almost assuredly ends Kelly's season, and considering he'll be an unrestricted free agent at age-35 with a cap hit of $3 million as a fourth liner, this likely ends his Bruins' career as well. Kelly had two points -- a pair of goals -- in eight contests this season.
