What It Means:

Smith hasn't played since he was struck in the head by the puck on October 17. "Definitely just feeling a little off," Smith said. "When you take any blow to the head, that’s kind of how you feel. Unfortunately, I’ve had that a couple times in my career. Just trying to be smart, be safe, and when I’m ready to come back just hit the ground running."

There's no timetable for his return, although obviously the fact that he's practicing is encouraging. Never much of an offensive weapon, Smith had just seven goals and seven assists in 80 games a year ago. We project those numbers to drop as we see him with two goals and two assists in 70 contests.
