Max Pacioretty scores twice in Canadiens' win
Montreal Canadiens winger Max Pacioretty, who played in only two exhibition games because of a broken tibia, produced the first and third goals Wednesday night in the Canadiens' 3-1, season-opening victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
What It Means:
The high-scoring left winger made it 1-0 for Montreal when he wristed the very first shot of the season on Toronto goalie Jonathan Bernier. That was at 3:09 of the first period. Pacioretty then found the empty net on a breakaway at 19:29 to seal the deal.
Pacioretty, 26, is coming off a season in which he scored 37 goals. We project Pacioretty to finish 2015-'16 with 37 goals, 32 assists and a plus/minus of plus-26.
