Red Wings' Jimmy Howard (MCL sprain) sidelined for four-to-six weeks

Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard has been diagnosed with a MCL sprain that will keep him out for the next four-to-six weeks.

What It Means:

This is the second time Howard has been forced to the shelf this season after a groin injury cost him a couple weeks earlier in the year. Petr Mrazek will take over primary goalie duties for the Red Wings.

Howard is 5-7-1 while allowing 1.96 goals per game with a .934 save percentage this season, both of which are career-bests.
