Semyon Varlamov will be back in net for the Avalanche
Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov will start versus the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.
Varlamov returned from a three-game absence on Tuesday to stop 31-of-33 shots in a tough-luck loss to the Minnesota Wild. The 28-year-old has struggled this year, posting a 3.15 goals-against average with a .906 save percentage and a league-leading 13 losses. However, he does get a favorable matchup against the Atlantic Division basement dwellers on Thursday.
Our models project 2.5 goals allowed, 26.5 saves and a 56.0 percent chance of winning for Varlamov, making him the sixth-best -- out of 20 -- goalie option on Thursday.
