New Jersey Devils goalie Keith Kinkaid has been named the starter for Friday night's contest against the St. Louis Blues.
Kinkaid has improved dramatically since last season, recording a .928 save percentage (SV%) and 2.59 goals-against average (GAA) through six starts, compared to a .904 SV% and 2.81 GAA during last year's campaign. He's 3-1-2 after picking up a win in a 38-save effort against the Nashville Predators last Saturday.
Despite the improvement, Kinkaid isn't a recommended play on Friday night against a Blues team that has won eight of their past 11. Our models rank him as the second-worst option for tonight's six-game slate, and project him to make 25.1 saves on 27.7 attempts with a 40.0 percent chance of winning.
