Panthers trade Dave Bolland to Coyotes

The Florida Panthers have traded center Dave Bolland and winger Lawson Crouse to the Arizona Coyotes for a conditional second round pick in 2018 and a third round pick in 2017.

What It Means:

This deal came out of nowhere, but was no less significant, as the Panthers essentially sacrificed their top prospect in Crouse (the 19-year-old 11th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft) to provide themselves with some salary cap relief (Bolland has three years remaining at a cap hit of $5.5 million on the massive deal he signed in the summer of 2014). Across two years of work for the Panthers, the 30-year-old veteran totaled 7 goals and 28 points in 78 contests.

The 30-year-old Bolland played in just 25 games last season for Florida, logging five points (one goal, four assists). His 44.0 Corsi For Percentage and -5.8 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength also left plenty to be desired.
