Gostisbehere had surgery on May 17 and is in the recovery process. He explained his status saying, "I feel good. It's been about eight weeks now. I feel good. Just getting back to it. I'm going out of town for a week here, but when I get back I can finally get on the ice. It'll be good." Gostisbehere's initial recovery timetable was listed as 10-12 weeks and he believes he'll be ready in time to play for Team North America in the World Cup.

Gostisbehere had an impressive season, tallying 46 points (17 goals, 29 assists) in 64 games played. He had played only two games at the NHL level prior to last season.
