Derek MacKenzie

Panthers' Derek MacKenzie has officially re-signed

The Florida Panthers have officially signed center Derek MacKenzie to a two-year contract extension.

What It Means:

This deal was first reported on Sunday, but it wasn't initially confirmed by the team. It's now official and their general manager Tom Rowe had nice words for MacKenzie. "Derek is a leader on our team and a true professional. His experience, work ethic and character make him a respected presence on the ice and throughout our organization."

MacKenzie wasn't re-signed for his point production, as he tallied only 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 64 games played. He was also poor at driving possession. MacKenzie's Corsi For Percentage was just 45.2 and his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength was -3.8.
