Jason Chimera

Islanders come to terms with Jason Chimera for two years

The New York Islanders have signed winger Jason Chimera to a two-year contract.

What It Means:

Chimera spent the last seven seasons with the Washington Capitals and wanted to remain with the club, but when the two sides were unable to agree on a deal, he chose to sign with a divisional rival in the Islanders. Chimera, 37 years-old, showed he still has some gas left in the tank, tying his career high in goals (20) and reaching the 40-point mark for just the second time in his career.

Despite the solid production, Chimera was mediocre at driving possession, posting a Corsi For Percentage of 47.5 and a Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength of -4.3. The speedy winger is capable of playing on both special team units.
