Pittsburgh opts to let Justin Schultz hit the open market
Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Justin Schultz did not get a qualifying offer from the Penguins.
What It Means:
Schultz is now an unrestricted free agent. He played in 18 regular-season games and 15 playoff contests with Pittsburgh in 2015-16 after he was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers.
Overall on the year, Schultz tallied four goals and 14 assists in 63 games. He posted a 49.3 Corsi For Percentage and -1.8 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength.
