The Florida Panthers have acquired goalie Reto Berra from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for center Rocco Grimaldi.
Berra will be the Panthers' backup netminder behind Roberto Luongo, filling a need. Berra was surplus in Colorado as he'd fallen behind Semyon Varlamov and Calvin Pickard on the depth chart. He posted a .922 save percentage in 14 appearances last year.
Grimaldi, 23, totaled three goals and two helpers in 20 contests. He was the 33rd overall pick in 2011.
