Blues expected to keep Brian Elliott, Jake Allen
St. Louis Blues goalies Brian Elliott and Jake Allen will be back in St. Louis next season to share the Blues' goaltending duties, St. Louis club general manager Doug Armstrong said Wednesday.
What It Means:
"I thought when I looked at it at the end of the season, we were very fortunate to have two goaltenders that were there to grab the ball when it hit the floor," Armstrong said. "We had those significant injuries to both guys, and both guys took the challenge and then ran with it and then didn't let the other guy back in the net until an injury."
Elliott and Allen are both entering the final seasons of their contracts. They helped the Blues to a collective 2.40 goals against average in 2015-'16, which ranked fourth in the NHL behind the Anaheim Ducks (2.29), Washington Capitals (2.33) and Los Angeles Kings (2.34).
