Matt Murray stops 21 of 22 shots as Pittsburgh takes 2-0 series lead

Pittsburgh Penguins netminder Pittsburgh goalie Matt Murray continued his winning ways Wednesday night, contributing 21 saves to the Penguins' 2-1 overtime victory over the visiting San Jose Sharks in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

What It Means:

The Pens have jumped to a 2-0 lead in the series. Murray now has a postseason record of 13-4, which is pretty remarkable inasmuch as he's a 22-year-old rookie. Murray was steady Wednesday night, if not flashy. Only a rare goal on a slapshot from San Jose defenseman Justin Braun beat him. That was late in the third period, which stretched the game into a brief overtime.

Murray's postseason goals against average is 2.13, and his save percentage is .926. It's quite a story for the Penguins as Murray played in just 13 games this regular season. He's relegated Marc-Andre Fleury to backup duties with his outstanding play.
