Bryan Rust comes through as Penguins' Game 7 hero

Pittsburgh Penguins 24-year-old rookie third liner Bryan Rust scored two huge goals on Thursday night to push Pittsburgh past the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 and onto the Stanley Cup Final.

What It Means:

Rust now has five goals and eight points in 17 playoff games this season. It's only the eighth time in playoff history where a rookie has had multiple points in a Game 7. Martin Jones and the Sharks now have Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel and Rust to keep an eye on, the latter of which has a three-game points streak going into Game 1 on Monday.

Rust tallied 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 41 games played during the regular season. His Corsi For Percentage of 51.1 was solid, but his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength was a poor -5.8. These numbers have risen to 52.6 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively.
