Logan Couture's three-point night helps San Jose push on to the finals
San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture continued his excellent play in the playoffs, tallying three points -- a goal and two helpers -- as the Sharks routed the St. Louis Blues, 5-2, Wednesday night to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
What It Means:
All of his points came in the final stanza. Couture assisted on Joel Ward's second goal, which gave the Sharks a 3-0 lead early in the third period. He also assisted on the Sharks' fourth goal, scored by Joonas Donskoi. Couture's goal, at 19:40 of the third period, was his eighth of the postseason. He also has 16 assists. He tops all players in assists and points in these playoffs.
The red-hot postseason comes after a mediocre regular season. He had just 36 points -- 15 goals and 21 helpers -- in 52 regular-season contests. He posted a 52.4 Corsi For Percentage and a -3.2 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength.
