Vancouver gets Erik Gudbranson from Florida for Jared McCann, picks
The Vancouver Canucks have acquired Erik Gudbranson and a 2016 fifth-round draft pick from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jared McCann, a 2016 second round pick and a 2016 fourth rounder.
That's a hefty price to pay for Gudbranson, but he's still just 24 years old and will provide the Canucks with some needed defensive help. He's a defensive defenseman who finished the 2015-'16 campaign with two goals, nine points and 49 penalty minutes in 64 contests. On May 9, he inked a one-year extension with Florida, which will pay him $3.5 million.
McCann, a 20-year-old rookie who was a first-round pick in 2014, totaled nine goals and nine helpers in 69 games this past season. He posted a 47.2 Corsi For Percentage and 0.4 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength.
