T.J. Oshie's hat trick, overtime winner lifts Capitals to Game 1 win
Washington Capitals winger T.J. Oshie came through in a gigantic way for the Capitals on Thursday night, scoring the overtime winner in Game 1 against Pittsburgh, his third goal of the game.
In 36 career playoff games, Oshie's team had never won when he's scored in the postseason. Oshie halted the streak in tremendous fashion in his seventh playoff game with the Capitals, lighting the lamp at three crucial moments during a tense Game 1. The Penguins and Capitals will tangle again in Game 2 on Saturday night.
Oshie posted a career-low 50.6 Corsi For Percentage this season to go with a -0.7 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength, which was the second lowest clip of his career. He did net a career-best 26 goals and dish out 25 helpers.
