Andrew Ladd could give Chicago a discount

Chicago Blackhawks winger Andrew Ladd can become an unrestricted free agent in July, but he appears to be open to giving the Blackhawks a discount on his services.

What It Means:

"I'm at the point in my career where I can make decisions based on being in a good situation and at the end of the day, I don't think it's all about money for me," Ladd, said. "It's about being in a good place for my family and being on a team that's going to contend every year. You'd be crazy not to want to be a part of this group, this organization, and we'll see what happens." He made $4.5 million this past season, and he could demand much more than that on the open market.

A midseason trade acquisition for the 'Hawks, Ladd totaled 25 goals and 21 assists across the entirety of the campaign. He owned a career-worst 51.4 Corsi For Percentage to go with a 0.4 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength, which was his worst clip since the 2009-'10 season.
