John Tavares' overtime winner sends the Islanders to the next round
New York Islanders center John Tavares scored a pair of goals in Sunday's 2-1 double overtime win over the Florida Panthers in Game 6.

Not only did Tavares score the game-winner in double overtime, but he also forced overtime by scoring the game-tying goal with 53.2 seconds remaining in the third period. The 25-year-old finished the game with six shots on goal and two blocked shots in 34:49 of ice time. The Islanders have won a series for the first time since 1993. They'll take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round.
Tavares totaled 33 goals and 37 helpers this season, both of which were down from his 2014-'15 numbers. He owned a 51.5 Corsi For Percentage and 1.3 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength, which were right in line with his career averages.
