Flyers' Michal Neuvirth stars in series debut
Philadelphia Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth, making his first start this postseason, steered away 31 shots to help Philly edge the visiting Washington Capitals, 2-1, Wednesday night.
A former Capital, Neuvirth replaced Steve Mason in the Philadelphia net, and the Flyers extended their first-round series to a fifth game. The heavily favored Capitals lead the best-of-seven series 3-1. Neuvirth made several impressive saves to post the win and will probably get the nod again in Game 5 on Friday night.
Neuvirth had an 18-8-4 record on the year, recording a 2.27 goals against average and .924 save percentage.
