Canucks' Jake Virtanen suspended for two games

Vancouver Canucks winger Jake Virtanen has been suspended for two games for his late hit on San Jose Sharks' Roman Polak.

What It Means:

The NHL described Virtanen's hit as a "late, forceful, blindside check." The league felt this warranted supplemental discipline due to how late it was delivered and its "predatory nature." Virtanen will be eligible to return on April 4. This is Virtanen's first incident of supplemental discipline and Polak was not injured as a result of the hit.

The 19 year-old rookie has 13 points (7 goals, 6 assists) in 51 games played this season and has been decent at driving possession. His Corsi For Percentage is 51.3 and his Relative Corsi For at Even Strength is 2.6. We project Virtanen to tally two more points (one goal, one assist) over the remaining course of the season.
