Washington's Nicklas Backstrom scores, dishes out assist
Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom scored a goal and added an assist Monday as the Capitals recorded a 4-1 triumph over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets.
With the win, the Capitals clinched the Presidents' Trophy. Washington is atop the NHL standings with 113 points and is guaranteed home-ice advantage throughout Stanley Cup Playoffs. Backstrom's goal was his 20th this season. His assist on T.J. Oshie's goal was his 47th helper of the season.
Backstrom owns a 51.2 Corsi For Percentage and 0.5 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength, the latter of which is a career low. We project him to record two more goals and five more helpers this season.
