Eric Staal scores twice in Rangers' 3-2 loss

New York Rangers forward Eric Staal scored two goals in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

What It Means:

Staal opened the scoring at the 4:19 mark of the opening period when he used one hand to deflect a Kevin Hayes pass past Pens' goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. He restored New York's lead a his goal in the second period. The 31-year-old has 13 goals and 38 points in 77 games this season. These were his second and third goals as a member of the Rangers.

We project Staal to net two more goals and dish out two more assists the rest of the way. Typically a superb driver of possession, this year is no different for Staal. He is sporting a 55.0 Corsi For Percentage and 5.8 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength, both of which are better than his career averages.
