Derek Stepan's three-point game propels Rangers to victory

New York Rangers center Derek Stepan scored a goal and added two assists in the Rangers' 5-2 victory over the visiting Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.

What It Means:

After Stepan assisted on Mats Zuccarello's 24th goal of the season on a Rangers power play at 8:37 of the first period, and the center cashed in on a New York power play himself with his 17th goal at 11:39 of the first. Derick Brassard increased the Rangers' lead to 3-0 at 5:26 of the second period before Stepan notched his 25th assist of the season on J.T. Miller's goal at 6:32 of the third. Miller's goal, which gave the Rangers a 4-1 advantage, was his 20th of the season. Rick Nash got on the scoreboard for the second consecutive game with his 14th goal of the season at 17:07 of the third period.

Stepan has never had great possession numbers throughout his six-year career, and that's the case again this season. He is sporting a 48.9 Corsi For Percentage and 0.9 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength. We project Stepan to score two more goals and dish out three more assists over the final nine games of the regular season.
