Islanders' Johnny Boychuk scores twice in high-scoring victory

New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk scored two goals in Sunday's 6-4 win over the New York Rangers.

What It Means:

What a crazy first period between these two teams. The Islanders jumped out to 3-0 and 4-3 leads in the opening 20 minutes. Boychuk scored both of his goals in the first frame. Brock Nelson, Kyle Okposo, Cal Clutterbuck and Frans Nielsen also found the back of the net for the Islanders. Boychuk has seven goals, 21 points and a plus-16 rating in 52 games this season.

He is struggling with his possession numbers, though. Boychuk's 49.1 Corsi For Percentage and -2.8 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength are both career-worst numbers. We project him to net two more goals and dish out four more assists over the remainder of the campaign.
