Eric Staal to play for Hurricanes as they take on Toronto

Carolina Hurricanes center Eric Staal has been confirmed as active by Carolina coach Bill Peters, and he will play Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, per Michael Smith.

What It Means:

This has been Staal's worst career season since his rookie campaign in 2003-'04. With a measly 6.6 shooting percentage and just two goals and eight points in 23 games since January 1, having Staal back in the lineup may not be much of a boon to your fantasy lineup.

The 31-year-old has 10 goals and 32 points in 61 games this season. We project him to tally another six goals and nine assists the rest of the way. His Corsi For Percentage is 57.0, which is a touch shy of his 57.1 career high, and his Relative Corsi For at Even Strength is 6.7.
