Brooks Orpik

Brooks Orpik off injured reserve, set to play Tuesday for Capitals

Washington Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik will return from a lower-body injury on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Kings.

What It Means:

Orpik last played on November 10, missing the last 40 games, but is finally ready to return. He has been removed from long-term injured reserve and is expected to play on the third line as well as seeing time as a penalty killer.

Orpik has three points (one goal, two assists) in 14 games played this season. He is averaging almost 3 hits and 2 blocked shots per game. Orpik has been poor at helping drive possession, however, as his Corsi For Percentage is 49.1, and his Relative Corsi For at Even Strength is -5.3. Regardless, the Capitals will welcome back his physical play.
