Patrick Eaves' first-period hat trick carries Dallas over Chicago

Dallas Stars forward Patrick Eaves notched a first-period hat trick in the Stars' 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.

What It Means:

Eaves became the fourth player in the league to score three goals in one period this season, and the second of the night (Alex Ovechkin did it, as well). As if a first-period hat trick wasn't unlikely enough, Eaves entered the contest with four goals in 35 games. He's now up to seven to go along with four assists.

We project Eaves to record four more goals with four more assists over the remainder of the campaign. He has posted fantastic possession metrics over this past three seasons, and his 55.2 Corsi For Percentage this year is no exception. Eaves' -0.7 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength is also well above his career average.
