Calgary's Dennis Wideman receives 20-game suspension

Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman has been suspended for 20 games for his hit on linesman Don Henderson.

What It Means:

While Wideman insisted that he didn't intentionally hit Henderson, the footage makes that hard to believe. All that being said, Wideman has the right to appeal a suspension of this length, so we'll have to see what happens there. As of now, he'll be eligible to return on March 14.

In 48 games, Wideman has recorded two goals and 17 assists. Our rest-of-season projections have Wideman scoring three more goals with 12 more assists, but those numbers will take a hit if he misses significant time. His -4.3 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength is the worst mark of his career while his 46.3 Corsi For Percentage is the second-worst clip of his career.
