Capitals bump Mike Richards up to third line

Washington Capitals center Mike Richards will play on the third line on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers.

What It Means:

Normal third-line center Marcus Johansson has an upper-body injury and will miss Tuesday's contest, so Richards gets bumped up. He will skate between wingers Jason Chimera and Tom Wilson while call-up Zach Sill will skate on the fourth line.

Richards has played in just four games for the Capitals this season and does not have a point. However, he's played important minutes on the penalty kill and has been solid at helping drive possession of the puck. His Corsi For Percentage is 52.3, and his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength is 2.3.
