Stanislav Galiev moves up to Capitals' top line

Washington Capitals winger Stanislav Galiev is slated to play on the first line with Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers.

What It Means:

Alex Ovechkin missed the All-Star game with a lower-body injury, so he's suspended for Tuesday's game, creating the opening for Galiev on the top line. Coach Barry Trotz wanted to keep his second line of Evgeny Kuznetsov, Justin Williams and Andre Burakovsky intact, hence why none of them were moved up.

Galiev, who has been a healthy scratch for much of this season, has just two points (both assists) in 13 games played. He has not been helping drive possession when on the ice. His Corsi For Percentage is 49.7, and his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength is -0.8. The 24-year-old Russian has a big opportunity to showcase his skills Tuesday night.
