Curtis McElhinney

Columbus' Curtis McElhinney record first win of the season

Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Curtis McElhinney has finally won a game this season as he beat the Arizona Coyotes, 7-5, with 27 saves.

What It Means:

It wasn't a pretty night by any means for the grizzled veteran backup netminder, heck he even stayed in after his noggin bounced on the ice helmetless. But a win is a win, and that's what counts. Most of the time. McElhinney did turn away eight of nine shots on the kill, at least.

His record now stands at 1-5-2 on the season with an ugly 28 goals against in 11 games. His goals-against average (3.33) and save percentage (.883) both rank 42nd among all netminders.
