Former Montreal Canadiens winger Alexander Semin has successfully cleared unconditional waivers.
Following that, the Montreal Canadiens announced the two sides have mutually agreed to terminate Semin's contract. This frees up the 31-year-old to pursue other opportunities in Europe.
Semin was a regular healthy scratch for the Canadiens and was not given much playing time when he was in the lineup, with an average time on ice of 12:20, over five minutes less than his career average. He recorded just four points (one goal, three assists) in 15 games.
