Montreal Canadiens winger Brendan Gallagher (hand) will be sidelined for at least six weeks.
He underwent surgery on his left hand Monday after he suffered two broken fingers on a blocked shot. Gallagher was injured this past Sunday on a shot by Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
It's a tough blow for Gallagher, who was having a breakout season with 19 points in 22 games. He set a new career-high for points with 47 last season and was on pace to top it this year.
