NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 11/21/22

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.

Goalie to Target

Jordan Binnington ($7,500): The St. Louis Blues started off the season very slowly but turned that around quickly and are riding a six-game winning streak heading into tonight. The Blues are -215 home favorites and are set to take on the Anaheim Ducks, putting them in a spot to come away with the win.

The Blues are on this six-game winning streak, and as no surprise, Binnington has looked great in his recent outings. He's allowed exactly two goals in each of his last four starts while picking up 30 saves or more in three of those four outings. This is a streak that could certainly continue tonight since the Ducks come in scoring only 2.21 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-worst in the league.

Combine this with the fact the Ducks are allowing the third-most (3.38) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, and the Blues' offense should be in a spot to continue pouring in the goals and get Binnington the win.

High-Salaried Skaters

Filip Forsberg ($7,700): With a 3.58 implied goal total, the Nashville Predators are the second-highest team on the slate and should be very popular in all formats. They are taking on the Arizona Coyotes, who are allowing the second-most (3.52) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, making this the weakest defense on tonight's slate.

Forsberg has been as consistent as ever in recent games, coming in with 11 NHL points, 35 shots on goal, and 7 blocked shots in his last 10 games. He is the primary shooter and scorer for the Predators with his role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, giving him a floor of shots every night. The soft defensive matchup will put Forsberg in a spot to hit his fantasy ceiling.

Jon Marchessault ($6,600): With a loaded 10-game slate there are plenty of great options, but the Vegas Golden Knights should be among the top-tier options. They have a solid 3.47 implied goal total taking on a Vancouver Canucks team that is constantly getting into high-scoring games. The Canucks have hit the over in 12 of their 18 games this season, which presents plenty of fantasy potential. The Canucks are in the top 10 of the league for the most goals scored and the bottom 5 of the league for the most goals allowed.

These types of game environments are exactly what we want to see in NHL DFS. This is where Marchessault becomes an elite option with his role on the second forward line and the first power-play unit. Marchessault has 6 NHL points and 35 shots on goal in his last 10 games -- a level of consistency you can use in any type of lineup.

Value Skaters

Tomas Tatar ($5,200): The New Jersey Devils are hosting the Edmonton Oilers in what could be the fantasy game of the night; the over/under sits at 7.0. Both teams are in the top seven of the league for the most goals scored, putting this game at the top of the list. While there are plenty of great top-tier options, we should also look to get some lower-salaried exposure to this game.

Tatar is a strong value play at just over $5,000 due to his role on the first forward line and the second power-play unit. He comes in with just 10 shots in his last five games, but he has 2 goals and a single assist. We'd like to see the shot volume a bit higher -- especially considering his strong role -- but that type of ice time with that salary is too good to pass up.

Pavel Buchnevich ($5,500): The Blues have a 3.49 implied goal total and are in a spot to exceed that against the lowly Ducks tonight. The Blues are rolling right and, as mentioned are facing the third-worst (3.38) defense in terms of goals allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. That should allow them to continue their strong offensive showing.

Buchnevich had a very slow start to the season but has picked things up a considerable amount in recent games with 7 NHL points and 12 shots on goal over his last five outings. Time on the first forward line and the first power-play make him an easy answer for salary savings tonight.
