Hockey is back!

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.

Goalie to Target

Jordan Binnington ($7,900): With no large favorite on tonight's slate, we can look for a combination of a good matchup and a good salary. That is what we have with Binnington going up against the Winnipeg Jets. This is a spot where he can come away with victory.

Thus far this season, the Jets are scoring 1.70 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fourth-lowest in the league. For the Blues, they are only allowing 1.87 Goals in the same situations, which is the seventh-best in the league. Binnington is off to a hot start this season with a .940 save percentage, allowing only 1.66 goals per game.

High-Salaried Skaters

Andrei Svechnikov ($8,700): The Carolina Hurricanes have the second-highest (3.50) implied goal total tonight, and we should see them flex their offense against the Vancouver Canucks.

As of now, the Hurricanes come in with a 75.29 Corsi For (Total Shot Attempts Created) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-best in the league. This has led to them producing 3.37 Goals in the same situations -- good for sixth-best in the league.

To say those numbers are unbelievable would be an understatement. They constantly push the pace on offense and bring tremendous fantasy potential to your lineups. The Canucks are allowing the eighth-most (2.91) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, making this the ideal matchup for this offense.

Svechnikov is on the second forward line and the first power-play unit this season, which has allowed him to rack up 8 NHL points and 18 shots on goal through five games. He has multi-point and multi-goal upside with a favorable matchup tonight.

Brady Tkachuk ($9,000): The Ottawa Senators were one of the notable teams in the offseason with several strong moves, and they are off to a good start this season. They are scoring goals and pushing the pace on offense -- both of which make their players very good for fantasy production.

Tkachuk is leading the way with 8 NHL points and 23 shots on goal in five games this season, which is a level of production we can expect from him all season. The Senators are in the top 12 of the league in goals scored and Corsi For, both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

He is up against the Dallas Stars, who find themselves with a 60.29 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is good for the 10th-worst in the league. Tkachuk should have plenty of chances to pile up the shots as he's been doing to start the season.

Value Skaters

Rickard Rakell ($4,700): Rakell will continue to be a good value option if Jake Guentzel is out for another game tonight. Guentzel missed the Penguins' most recent game, which pushed Rakell to the top forward line and allowed him to skate alongside Sidney Crosby. Tonight, the Penguins are on the road to take on the Edmonton Oilers, where the total is set at a high 7.0 total.

Rakell was also bumped up to the first power-play unit, giving him full ice-time correlation with Crosby -- something any player wants. The Pens' offense is buzzin' to start the year, leading the league with 4.80 Goals scored per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

Dawson Mercer ($5,300): The New Jersey Devils have plenty of offensive juice, and it's time to get on board. With a 75.89 Corsi For, the Devils lead the league in shot attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. They are a high-octane offense that will take shots att every opportunity, giving their players a very safe floor of points.

Mercer is skating on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, which is essentially one of the best fantasy roles you can have on a strong offense. He is only $5,300. Are his 3 NHL points and 15 shots on goal through five games breathtaking? No, but that role will continuously put him in a spot to reach for a fantasy ceiling.
