3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Wednesday 4/27/22
Kyle Connor headlines a shorter Wednesday NHL DFS slate. Which other studs rise above the rest?

Spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.

In NHL DFS, it’s different from spending up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are spending salary in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.

Wednesday night has five more games on tap. Here are some studs.

Roope Hintz, Center, Dallas Stars

FanDuel Salary: $6,800

The choice here was rough. Even though he isn't extremely high-salaried, Roope Hintz is a stud because of his matchup with the Arizona Coyotes. Both teams are also on the second leg of a back-to-back. Goals are inevitable here.

Hintz has been quite good alongside Jason Robertson; he has five goals and four assists over the past seven games. His floor is a bit low(just 14 shots and 4 blocked shots in that span), but it's not horrible.

Most importantly, Hintz and the Dallas Stars still need a win in the worst way into a soft matchup with Harri Sateri.

Pairing Hintz with even a John Klingberg could be worth a flier on Wednesday night.

Kyle Connor, Wing, Winnipeg Jets

FanDuel Salary: $8,800

Kyle Connor is so close to 90 real-world points on the season for the Winnipeg Jets, and Winnipeg gets to face one of the worst teams in hockey in the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers tend to spiral when they fall too far behind. They are 0-39-2 when Philadelphia falls behind by two or more goals.

Connor has slowed down a bit with four goals and three assists in his last seven games. He does have 11 shots and 12 scoring chances in his past three contests. This indicates a bit of a slowdown, but his salary has matched it.

The opposing Flyers are among the five worst teams in the league when it comes to allowing shots, and their penalty kill is mired in the bottom third.

The Jets -- as all teams have on Philly -- will score some goals on Wednesday.

Adam Fox, Defenseman, New York Rangers

FanDuel Salary: $6,800

The New York Rangers' defenseman has trended downward a bit in salary. That's certainly okay.

He had an assist and four shots with scoring chances on Tuesday against Carolina. It'll be a much softer test on Wednesday as the Montreal Canadiens enter town. After all, the Habs have still allowed the most goals in the NHL this season (312).

Adam Fox has a goal and five assists over his previous five games. That includes three-plus shots in six of his last seven.

Since a lot of the top defensemen are off the slate, it's a good time to use Fox.
