NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 3/30/22

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.

Goalie to Target

James Reimer ($7,700): The San Jose Sharks find themselves as -164 road favorites visiting the Arizona Coyotes, which is a winnable matchup Reimer in net. While the Sharks may not be an amazing team, the Coyotes are worse, and given Reimer's modest salary, he's worth a shot tonight. The Coyotes come in scoring 2.33 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is 14th in the league, while their defense allows the 4th-most (3.05) goals in the same situations.

Surprisingly, Remier comes in having allowed three or fewer goals in all of his last 10 starts. That is a very strong level of consistency for one of the lower-salaried goalies on the slate in a soft matchup against a lackluster offense.

High-Priced Skaters

Mark Scheifele ($7,600): The Winnipeg Jets have a 3.55 implied goal total, which is the third-highest on the slate, and could be in for a high-scoring game against the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres have won six of their last 10 games, and we've seen a total of seven goals or more in seven of their last 10 games. That's a massive amount of scoring, and it sets things up for players to hit their fantasy ceilings. This is due in large part to the Sabres allowing 2.83 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh-most in the league.

Scheifele is hot right now and comes in with 13 NHL points and 20 shots on goal across his last 10 games. Scheifele is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, giving him ample ice time to rack up fantasy points against a weak defensive opponent.

Timo Meier ($9,000): With a 3.29 implied total, the Sharks are a team worth targeting versus the Coyotes. This is a bit of a correlation play with Reimer. We expect the Sharks' offense to put up some goals against the Coyotes, who are allowing 3.05 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fourth-most in the league. If the Sharks are going to put up goals, it puts Reimer in a spot to pick up the win, and if the Sharks are going to be scoring goals, it's likely coming from their best players. The circle of fantasy life, jamming as much positive correlation as we can into our lineups.

Meier is on the top forward line and the first power-play unit. He's totaled 12 NHL points, 41 shots on goal, and 8 blocked shots in his last 10 games. He's an elite fantasy option on this smaller five-game slate.

Value Skaters

Andrew Copp ($5,000): The New York Rangers have a solid matchup against the Detroit Red Wings, which results in them carrying a 3.46 implied total. Last night, Ryan Strome was out for the Rangers, and we saw Copp take his role on not only the second forward line but also the first power-play unit. Since they are on a back-to-back, Strome's status is up in the air right now. If he is out, Copp should remain in a very strong offensive role, making him a clear value option to target. The Red Wings are allowing 3.07 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five, which is good for the third-most in the league. This is a somewhat minor injury situation to note, but it presents a solid option for some value tonight.

Evgeni Dadonov ($5,300): The Vegas Golden Knights are in the midst of a very tight playoff race for the Western Conference Wild Card spots and are in need of some wins. Hopefully, the motivation factor puts them in a spot to turn the offense up to 11 in a favorable matchup versus the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken are allowing the sixth-most (2.87) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations this season, making them a very favorable opponent to attack. Dadonov has 9 NHL points and 23 shots on goal over his last 10 games, while seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit.
