3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Wednesday 2/16/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside, as if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists as well. Ideally, we'll want players that will get a lot of ice time together on an even strength line and a power play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

There are only four games tonight, but they feature some great matchups. Here are three of the best stacks of the night.

Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have been on a long break. This will be their first game since February 1st. Fantasy players missed their high-powered offense during that time, as they average the most goals per game in the NHL.

There are two lines we can use to stack the Panthers. We can't get the two best options on the same even strength line, but on the bright side, it adds in some value pieces to keep our overall salary expenses down.

Aleksander Barkov ($9,400) is tied for the team lead in goals with 21. He's playing with Anthony Duclair ($6,300) at even strength and on the power play. That makes him a good bargain for that $6,300 salary. Carter Verhaeghe ($5,700) won't play on the power play with them but has a respectable 8 points in his last 10 games and has 15 goals on the season.

The second line features the league leader in assists, Jonathan Huberdeau ($9,000). He is centered by Sam Bennett ($7,100), who is tied with Barkov with 21 goals. Owen Tippett ($3,600) is the value piece on this line. He's not on the power play, but he likes to shoot, and the theory is that Florida is trying to get him more involved to make him look better in a potential trade. The only issue with this line would be that it offers no power play correlation.

Florida will face the Carolina Hurricanes in a game between arguably the two best teams in the East. Carolina is a very strong defensive team, but Florida has handled them pretty effectively this season. They've won by scores of 5-2 and 4-3 in the two meetings this season.

Florida may be underdogs in this game, but they still have great upside any time they take the ice. They have an implied team total at 3.23 goals, which is definitely good enough to make them a stack we'll want tonight.

Vegas Golden Knights

Florida and Carolina have the big matchup in the East tonight, but we've also got a showdown in the West between two contenders. The Vegas Golden Knights hit the ice in a big game, and their lineup will look a bit different.

For the first time since March 7th of last year, Jack Eichel ($5,500) will play in an NHL game. He comes at a huge salary discount from where his production and talent says it should be.

Eichel's jumping on the first line with Max Pacioretty ($9,700). Patches has been in a slump, with no goals in his last 10 games, but hopefully, a week off can help heal the wrist that had him on the shelf. Evgeni Dadonov ($4,800) moves up to this line and has proven during his time with Florida that he can produce when playing with good players. This line will also make up the first power play unit for Vegas.

In a rematch of last season's West Division playoff series, Vegas will face the Colorado Avalanche. It's certainly not as easy of a matchup as we would like, but this game could be back and forth with two explosive offenses. Colorado ranks 16th in goals allowed per game, so they aren't totally suffocating on defense.

The Golden Knights are underdogs at home but still have an implied team total over three goals. This line is very affordable for the upside it brings, making a good stack. You can also fit in Shea Theodore ($6,200) as the power play quarterback on defense with this line to get another piece of a solid stack.

Colorado Avalanche

On the other side of that game, the Avalanche look like a great stack tonight, too. They were hard-luck losers last night, as they put up 88 shot attempts and 4.53 expected goals in a 4-1 loss. They are second behind the Panthers in goals per game, so they're in stack consideration every night.

The return of Nathan MacKinnon ($9,900) has been a welcomed sight for the Avalanche. He has a point in each of his two games back in the lineup and eight shots on goal total. He's in his normal spot alongside Mikko Rantanen ($9,600) and Gabriel Landeskog ($9,200). These guys combined for 10 high-danger chances in last night's game. We know that they are one of the best lines in hockey as they have been for the past few seasons.

Vegas actually hasn't played too well defensively this season. They allow the most high-danger chances per 60 minutes. Now, backup goaltender Laurent Brossoit will have to start in with Robin Lehner out for this game. Brossoit hasn't been too bad, but this is a clear downgrade.

Colorado has the highest implied team total on tonight's slate. With their upside and correlation, the potential to break any slate is always there with this stack.
