NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 2/1/22

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.

Goalie to Target

Juuse Saros ($8,200): The Nashville Predators have one of the easiest matchups on the slate versus the Vancouver Canucks, putting Saros in a fantastic spot tonight. The Canucks are on the second night of a back-to-back and come in sporting the league's worst offense, scoring only 1.82 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. On the other side, the Predators are one of the league's best defenses, only allowing 2.25 goals against in the same situations, which is the ninth-lowest in the league.

Saros has been a big part of that success, allowing three goals or fewer in 6 of his last 10 starts. On top of that, Saros also comes in with 33 saves or more in 7 of those same 10 starts, which is insane volume, giving him a high floor and a high ceiling to reach for.

High-Priced Skaters

Kyle Connor ($9,400): Connor is an absolute machine on the ice when it comes to putting pucks on net. He comes in with 184 shots on goal this season, which is good for the third-most in the league, and an average of 4.4 shots on goal per game. His fantasy floor of points is super solid due to this consistency every game. That should be on full display tonight since he is up against the Philadelphia Flyers, who are allowing a 60.28 Corsi Against (total shot attempts allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-worst in the league.

The Winnipeg Jets have a 3.23 implied goal total tonight, putting them a half step behind some of the elite options on the slate. However, the matchup against the Flyers could allow them to exceed that. Connor comes in with 10 NHL points and 55 shots on goal in his last 10 games, both of which should increase after this matchup against Philly.

David Pastrnak ($8,400): The Boston Bruins have a 3.68 implied goal total tonight and come in as big -295 home favorites versus the Seattle Kraken. Pasta is another high-volume shooter and is somewhat due for a goal. He has a total of 12 shots on goal over his last three games and nothing to show for it, but the matchup against the weaker Kraken should help him find the back of the net.

This season, the Kraken are allowing 3.02 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the league. A super-strong role on the second forward line and the first power-play unit continues to give Pastrnak multi-goal upside every night.

Value Skaters

Evgeni Dadonov ($5,000): As massive -550 home favorites, the Vegas Golden Knights should be a popular team tonight. The Golden Knights are top-five (2.82) for the most goals scored per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, while the Buffalo Sabres are bottom-eight (2.74). It's two teams at the opposite ends of the offense-defense spectrum, and it's why we see the Golden Knights with a high 3.95 implied goal total.

Dadonov has 6 NHL points and 23 shots on goal over his last 10 games, which is solid production for a player on the third forward line and the first power-play unit. Look to stack him with Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone to maximize their power-play upside.

J.T. Compher ($4,800): Compher makes a solid point-per-dollar option tonight with his 4 NHL points, 10 shots on goal, and 12 blocked shots in his last 10 games. Filling up the stat sheet and seeing time on the second power-play unit is a solid floor-ceiling combo for a player under $5,000. The Colorado Avalanche have a slate-high 4.48 implied goal total and are insane -650 home favorites against the lowly Arizona Coyotes, putting Compher and all of their skaters in a good spot.
