3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Monday 1/24/22

The Dallas Stars are in a great spot against the slumping Philadelphia Flyers tonight. Which other teams should we stack on Monday?

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside, as if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists as well. Ideally, we'll want players that will get a lot of ice time together on an even strength line and a power play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

There are seven interesting games on Monday, so let's see which teams we should be stacking tonight.

Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars' roller coaster season continues.

Dallas had a rough trip to Florida in which they lost two games by a combined score of 10-2. But they then returned home to face the Montreal Canadiens, and while they lost 5-3, they set a record for most shot attempts in a regular season game since that data started being tracked in 2007. They followed that up with back-to-back 5-4 wins on the road and now get another good away matchup tonight.

The return of Jason Robertson ($8,500) has been crucial to those latest wins. He has three goals and five points in the last two games. His 16 goals are tied for second on the team with Joe Pavelski ($8,000), who has eight points in his last four games. Roope Hintz ($7,400) has them beat with 17 goals and has 19 shots on goal in his last three games. This line has been one of the best in hockey and is fully correlated on the power play.

The Stars continue their road trip against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. The Flyers have been down bad of late, losing their last 11 games, and they allowed six goals to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. They now allow the most expected goals and most high-danger chances per 60 minutes in the league, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Dallas' offensive production is driven by this line, making it one of the best stacks of the night. Other teams have multiple lines that can put up big nights, making it hard to pinpoint which one to stack, whereas the Stars' success is often coming through this line. You don't have to do any mixing and matching with power play units, either, as this line will make up the first power play unit, as well.

Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild were in a good spot on Friday, and they delivered. They won 5-1 and got some performances from the players we want to roster in fantasy. They also won 4-3 on Saturday and are in an even better spot tonight.

The first line for the Wild has been one of the best lines in the league, as only one line has scored more five-on-five goals. Kirill Kaprizov ($9,500) continues to excel, with 15 points in his last eight games. He's now up to eighth in the league with 47 points. Ryan Hartman ($7,000) continues to have a breakout season, as he scored two goals on Friday to bring him to a team-leading 18. Mats Zuccarello ($7,000) has been playing great, as well, with 14 points in his last 10 games.

The Wild will face the Montreal Canadiens, who occupy last place in the Eastern Conference. The season couldn't be going much worse for Montreal, and they've been getting pummeled with shots. Since the calendar flipped to 2022, they've allowed 4.25 expected goals in the league, by far the worst in the league.

Minnesota's top line is clicking, and they have a great advantage tonight. They have the highest implied team total on tonight's slate and are clearly one of the best stacks on the board.

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche were disappointing on Saturday in a good matchup against the aforementioned Canadiens. They won 3-2, but the main stars we like to roster only combined for one point. Since they lead the league with 4.15 goals per game, we should expect them to bounce back tonight.

The first line of Colorado all carry high salaries. Nathan MacKinnon ($10,300) has been his normal self with 14 points in 10 games, and he also has a whopping 59 shots on goal in those games. Mikko Rantanen ($9,600) leads the team with 21 goals, including 6 in his last 10 games. Gabriel Landeskog ($9,300) had missed a few games on the COVID list but came back and scored the winning goal in overtime on Saturday.

They aren't up there with other lines on the five-on-five goal production, but that's because players have missed time. This is still probably the most dangerous line when all the weapons are healthy.

Colorado will face the Chicago Blackhawks at home on Monday. Chicago has lost three games in a row, including allowing nine goals in two games over the weekend. They've lost both previous meetings with the Avalanche this season, allowing four goals in both games.

Colorado joins Minnesota with an implied team total above four tonight. If you can fit in their first line, they offer immense upside every night, and tonight is no different.
