3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Friday 12/17/21

In any daily fantasy lineup, spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.

In NHL DFS, it’s different from paying up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are paying up in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.

Friday night features six games in all. It is time to look at a few studs!

Kyle Connor, Wing, Winnipeg Jets

FanDuel Salary: $9,300

The Winnipeg Jets play the Washington Capitals on Friday night. This should be fun.

Kyle Connor has 18 goals and 14 assists on the season. He had a bit of a down night against the Buffalo Sabres but could easily bounce back against the Capitals. Connor gets a home matchup against a Washington team that allowed three goals in mere seconds to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Washington nets almost 3.5 goals per game, which is fifth in the league, and Winnipeg can score well, too. This shapes up to be a duel of snipers at the MTS Centre tonight, and Connor offers huge upside.

Roman Josi, Defenseman, Nashville Predators

FanDuel Salary: $7,200

The Nashville defenseman is in a solid position Friday night against an awful defense like the Blackhawks.

Roman Josi has 10 goals and 18 assists in 29 games. That goes along with 103 shots and 39 blocked shots. Basically, his floor is around five shots and blocked shots combined per game. Josi has eight real-world points in his last seven contests with an eye-popping 38 shots on goal on nearly 70 shot attempts.

Most will consider Seth Jones against the Predators as an alternative, but Josi -- who is unrested and on a short-handed Predators team -- will likely take matters into his own hands for the Preds.

Sidney Crosby, Center, Pittsburgh Penguins

FanDuel Salary: $7,500

Sidney Crosby has put his poor start in the rearview mirror. The Pittsburgh Penguins' center has two goals and seven assists across his last five games to go along with 18 shots on goal.

Crosby faces a Buffalo Sabres team that he has enjoyed success against. He had an assist in their previous matchup with five scoring chances and two shots on goal. Crosby was still a little off at the time as it may be one of the few times he missed two open nets in one period.

The good news is that Buffalo played last night and comes in unrested. The bad news is that the Sabres likely have some confidence after beating the Minnesota Wild.

Also, there is this -- Pittsburgh's projected goal total is 4.07, per our model, which is the highest on this slate by far. It could be another very good night for Crosby and the Penguins.
