3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 4/2/21

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Friday night roars in with six games. Let's look at some value picks.

Tyson Jost, Center, Colorado Avalanche

FanDuel Salary: $3,400

It is rare to recommend the same player two nights later. However, Tyson Jost and the Colorado Avalanche are home again on Friday night -- this time versus the St. Louis Blues. It is safe to say the Blues have had a tough time lately. They are not scoring well, and the Avs' third line is. After all, Joonas Donskoi ($4,300) had a hat trick and assist on Wednesday alone.

Jost goes up against a Blues team that is wildly inconsistent. The risk is this -- St. Louis is 12-5-2 on the road. They are giving up only 28 shots a game away from home, which is top-10 in the NHL. So shots may be a little more at a premium tonight. Fewer shots often mean fewer scoring chances and fewer opportunities. This Colorado third line has been as good as its first line, though, and Jost's salary went up only $200.

Jason Spezza ($3,200) is still a viable option for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Keep an eye on Michael McLeod of the New Jersey Devils and see what line he will play on.

Daniel Sprong, Wing, Washington Capitals

FanDuel Salary: $3,300

Daniel Sprong is a bottom-six player on the Washington Capitals, a team that carries a little extra value on Friday as the Capitals play the Devils. Sprong had two assists against the New York Islanders on Thursday night. He has had success against the Devils this season. Sprong is a speed winger playing against a defense that often gives up a ton of scoring chances.

The forward needs space to generate chances, and New Jersey provides plenty of it. Shot volume for Sprong has improved with seven in his last two games, and he's tallied five scoring chances in that span. New Jersey often has matchup problems against Washington, and it is not always the top line.

Elsewhere, Andrew Copp is still at $4,000 for the Winnipeg Jets, and Yegor Sharangovich ($3,800) remains in the top-six for New Jersey.

Mario Ferraro, Defenseman, San Jose Sharks

FanDuel Salary: $3,700

Mario Ferraro remains a nice floor choice on Friday night versus the Los Angeles Kings in another "Battle Of California."

Utilizing a more defensive-minded defender on Friday for his floor in a game where there may be more offense than expected is not a bad idea. He also has three real-world points in his last five games (all assists) while blocking about two shots a game.

Ferraro excels when he is allowed to use his defensive abilities to transition into offense. At even strength, the San Jose Sharks' defenseman has shown his adeptness at transitional passing. That will be huge on Friday night against Los Angeles, a team that can get caught with long passes often.

Sean Walker ($3,500) is again worth a look as his salary did not move from where it was earlier in the week. San Jose also gets caught on transitional defense often, and Walker can hit the net with his above-average shot.
