3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/31/21

With six games scheduled on Wednesday night's slate, we search for value. Who should we target?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Wednesday night fires in with six games. Let's look at some value picks.

Tyson Jost, Center, Colorado Avalanche

FanDuel Salary: $3,200

Wednesday expects to see Tyson Jost as a tertiary value option at best from the center position. However, he tends to play well against Arizona and comes off a 20+ FanDuel point performance. It is more than the goal and four shots -- Jost created several quality opportunities in just 14 minutes of ice time.

Jost goes up against a team that Colorado routinely averages 35+ shots against. The center himself had a five-shot effort against them earlier in the season. Even the middle-six forwards from Colorado could be a threat on Wednesday. See Joonas Donskoi ($3,400) from the wing as another example of a plug-in type of play.

Jason Spezza ($3,200) is a feast or famine risk for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dylan Gambrell ($3,300) carries some intrigue from the San Jose Sharks against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night.

Nils Hoglander, Wing, Vancouver Canucks

FanDuel Salary: $3,500

Nils Hoglander is still playing on the first line for the Vancouver Canucks. Against the Winnipeg Jets, Hoglander showed off his speed and agile acuity with six shots on goal and one goal in the two games. He even blocked three shots as well. While Hoglander played about 15 minutes a game in these two contests, his impact was far-reaching.

The young forward needs experience like this in as many different situations as possible. Now, the Calgary Flames will come in trying to play a more physical, slowed-down tempo of hockey but Vancouver will try and push the pace anyway. Expect Hoglander to be able to stretch Calgary's defense out wide then draw them in for more chances.

Also, Joonas Donskoi is down to $3,400 now. There is even Jeff Carter at just $3,800 from the Los Angeles Kings.

Erik Karlsson, Defenseman, San Jose Sharks

FanDuel Salary: $4,200

The plan is to fire up the offense and we take a look at Erik Karlsson? Wait, Karlsson is a value choice now?

That is how far one of the best defensemen in the game has fallen now. Despite this, he now is very useful in DFS because of it. Karlsson has double-digit FanDuel points in two of his previous three games and is starting to play a little more like the Norris Trophy award winner most remember.

Karlsson is at his best when he is skating and allowed to play more freely mentally and physically. For whatever reason, he has been doing that more of late. Is it because he is looking to get out of San Jose? Those reasons do not matter now. He is at least inspired and into games. That is progress.

Sean Walker ($3,500) is a minimum-salaried option from the Los Angeles Kings that can launch 3-4 shots on net at times. He may be worth a look in a lineup or two on Wednesday night versus the Vegas Golden Knights.
