3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on 3/30/21

There are seven games on Tuesday and some intriguing studs including Patrick Kane. So, who else can we trust in NHL DFS?

Spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup. In NHL DFS, it’s different from paying up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are paying up in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.

Tuesday night has seven games on the docket. Let's take a look at some studs.

Sebastian Aho, Center, Carolina Hurricanes

FanDuel Salary: $7,800

The Carolina Hurricanes play the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night and the Hurricanes will try to match the Aho line versus the Patrick Kane line. This should mean some offense for both sides as has been the pattern between the two teams.

The best thing about Aho is his goal-scoring. He has six goals in his last six games. Also, he was able to fire six shots on ten attempts versus Tampa Bay over the weekend. Chicago tends to give up a ton of shots and Carolina is a team in the top-five when it comes to shots on goal on the road (nearly 34 per 60).

Also, there is spending way up for Connor McDavid against the Montreal Canadiens who could be rusty after a week off from COVID protocols. If one does not want to spend $9,200, there is Mika Zibanejad ($7,500) going up against the Washington Capitals.

Patrick Kane, Wing, Chicago Blackhawks

FanDuel Salary: $7,900

Patrick Kane is below $8,000 on Tuesday night which is rare. This is one of the lowest salaries that Kane has been positioned at this season. Kane has two goals and five assists against the Hurricanes in two meetings and several points on the man advantage. Chicago has the ability to strike quick as the Nashville Predators found out on Sunday. Alex DeBrincat scored twice in the blink of an eye set up once by Kane.

It is likely that Kane will have chances to set up in transition as his line and Aho's line trade scoring chances on Tuesday night. The previous meetings featured shots in the low to mid 30's for both teams. Chicago's power-play is fifth in the league at home and presents as a real threat tonight as well.

Alex Ovechkin ($8,600) has an excellent matchup versus the New York Rangers but watch who starts for New York in net.

Darnell Nurse, Defenseman, Edmonton Oilers

FanDuel Salary: $6,000

This medium slate offers quite a few defensive studs. Picking just one may prove to be a challenging task. Darnell Nurse has been the most consistent blueliner among these studs with 20+ FanDuel points in three straight games. He is averaging over 27 minutes played a night over the last four contests.

The Edmonton Oilers' defense has been Nurse and Tyson Barrie basically producing all-world DFS totals but Nurse has the better floor. He has the ability to block three shots or more every night and Edmonton is on the back end of a back-to-back. If they tire any, Nurse could block more shots. That increased floor elevates point potential on Tuesday night.

Some alternative choices include Jeff Petry from the Montreal Canadiens and even Victor Hedman ($7,000) from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both have solid matchups.
