5 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/3/20

Corey Crawford has an incredible home matchup tonight. Is he our top value at goaltender?

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Pavel Zacha, Center, New Jersey Devils

FanDuel Price: $3,800

The "third" line for the New Jersey Devils has been pretty solid as of late. This line is comprised of Pavel Zacha, Nikita Gusev, and Jesper Bratt, and the trio remains together on the team's second power-play unit.

Zacha relies heavily on getting on the scoresheet offensively more than once to be completely effective. He doesn't score or shoot much, despite scoring twice in his last game, but he has four points in his last four games, and Gusev has also had a bit of a resurgence since John Hynes was fired.

Bryan Rust, Winger, Pittsburgh Penguins

FanDuel Price: $4,900

I still don't understand how Bryan Rust is under $5,000 on FanDuel. I guess five points in his last 13 games will do that, but he was playing so well and remains on a line with Evgeni Malkin -- and is the top power-play unit -- that his price should always be higher than this.

The matchup tonight is a premium one as the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Ottawa Senators — a team giving up 3.32 goals against per game, which is the third-most in the NHL this season.

Ondrej Kase, Winger, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Price: $3,600

We have a new team for Ondrej Kase, which should definitely improve his upside. He'll play on the second line tonight with David Krejci, and his other winger is unknown. Brad Marchand missed morning skate with an illness, so if he is out, the Boston Bruins will move likely move Jake DeBrusk -- who usually plays with Krejci and Kase -- up.

Obviously, this has been a very disappointing season for Kase after putting up 11 goals and 20 points in 30 games last season, and there were high hopes this year. Perhaps once he settles into Boston, the change of scenario and better teammates will improve his offensive numbers.

Darnell Nurse, Defense, Edmonton Oilers

FanDuel Price: $3,900

With 29 points in 66 games, Darnell Nurse has modest offensive numbers. However, he also has a fantastic 159 shots and 129 blocks, which give him a very high floor to go along with a decent ceiling when he gets on the board offensively.

The Edmonton Oilers are on the tail-end of a back-to-back, which is far from ideal as they are one of the better defensive teams. However, Dallas has struggled a bit lately, having allowed at least four goals in four of their last seven contests -- which bodes well for the Oilers.

Corey Crawford, Goaltender, Chicago Blackhawks

FanDuel Price: $7,800

After a horrific October, Corey Crawford bounced back with a solid November, which he then followed up with another brutal month in December. However, in January and February, Crawford has been fantastic. Since January 1st, Crawford has put up a stellar 2.39 goals against average and .928 save percentage.

Tonight is a great matchup as the Blackhawks host the Anaheim Ducks. In 2020, the Ducks are scoring just 2.52 goals per game, which is the fourth-worst in the NHL over that time period. In addition, Crawford is the top point-per-dollar play, per our projections. He is projected for the second-most fantasy points despite being priced as the 14th-most expensive goaltender.
